I am a Cattle Dog-German Shepherd mix who just happens to look like a fox. My favorite color is pink, my favorite game is fetch and my favorite person is my mom, K.
I was born on December 7th, 2010. On January 16th, 2011, my former owner left my siblings and me in a box, in a parking lot! We were very fortunate that a volunteer for L.I.F.E. House for Animals in Frankfort, KY was called and took us to the shelter. The next day I went to work with the same volunteer, my Aunt B, and ended up getting a ride home to K with my other Aunt, R.
At K's, I met my new brothers: Oreo, a border collie mix and Sebastian the cat, both rescues. I also made friends with Sian and Henry, Aunt R's Miniature Schnauzers. Oreo was pretty cool, Sebastian hid, Sian ignored me and Henry scared me. It was all a lot to take in at six weeks old!
As I grew up and got to know everyone, things got better. Henry turned out to be an awesome playmate once I understood what was going on and got a little bigger. Sian still doesn't like me. She's not mean, she just pretends I'm not here. I suppose I can't be liked by everyone. Sebastian sleeps all day and doesn't like to play. Mom says it's because I'm too rough. I don't know...this doesn't stop him from cuddling with me, of which Mom has photographic evidence! Sadly, Oreo passed away in June after suffering a severe illness. He was a fabulous older brother who showed me how much fun walks and dog parks are.
In the spring of 2011, Mom and Aunt R started taking Sian, Henry and me to Shepherds Gate Farm, owned by Aunts B and T, for training in canine agility. I got to jump jumps and go through tunnels! It was AWESOME! I made friends with my regular classmates: Eli, the Portugese Water Dog and Ziva, a Belgian Tervuren. I also met Dagger, Gator and Wicked, also Belgian Tervurens, Callie, Belle and Harley, German Shepherds, and Bindi, the Border Collie. Bindi and Wicked are particularly awesome because they RUN! I like running, almost as much as I like to fetch balls and jump fences. I stay very fit.
Also at the farm are horses and a really big goat named Levi. The horses: Oreo, B's draft cross gelding, Buttons, T's paint mare, Sarah, R's Warmblood mare and Polo, K's thoroughbred gelding all reside at the farm. The horses are huge but seem very gentle. They ignore us dogs while we run and play in a neighboring field. Did you know Polo has a blog? Check it out: Polo The Anonymous Horse.
Throughout the summer and fall Mom and I went out the farm frequently to visit the other dogs and horses. Then, in early October I met Nelly. Nelly is an eight year old yellow Labrador Retriever who, along with several kennel mates had been seized from her former owner and rescued by B and T. Nelly came home with K and I and stayed on while searching for her forever family. K set up the Nelly's World blog to help Nelly find her forever family. Nelly's search was successful and she is now living in her forever home and doing wonderfully!
My tale doesn't end here, but I must take a break in order to herd some puppies and take my afternoon outing. There's lots more to share, so please stay tuned!
